The real Manchester City are back
Manchester City have been through such a dominating period, that they were expected to win their third Premier league title in succession last season. However, they clearly underperformed, which saw them finish a long way behind champions Liverpool. City then started the current season in similar form and this resulted in them drifting in the Premier league winners betting markets for the title. This alongside a rise in form for other sides such as Manchester United and Tottenham, in what now appeared to be one of the most competitive title races that we have seen for over a decade.
It appears that the tide could now be turning, and we are now seeing the real Manchester City, who appear to be back near their best of a few seasons ago. This run of form has seen them continue to shorten in the Premier league winners’ markets, which sees them as the odds-on favourites to win their title back from Liverpool. This has led to fans looking for the best bookmaker offer they can find, in order to pick up bonuses to be used to support City. Liverpool also remaining short odds for the title and fancied by many.
Manchester City were beaten 2-0 away at Tottenham back in the latter period of November and this continued the stuttering form of the side with many believing it could again be a difficult season ahead for City. However, they followed this up with a stunning run of form that culminated with the EFL Cup semi-final victory over rivals Manchester United in the early period of January. This saw them dominate the match in winning 2-0 and qualify for the final for the fourth year in succession, as they continue their remarkable run in the competition and will now take on Tottenham.
Throughout this period, City had picked up two victories and a draw in the group stages of the Champions league, that meant they progressed through to the knockout stages as group winners. On top of this, they also won consecutive Premier league matches, with a 5-0 home victory over Burnley, before a 2-0 home win over Fulham. Next up was a trip to United and they were held to a 0-0 draw, in what was a close affair between the pair. Manchester United were also held to a 1-1 home draw with West Brom in a game they dominated throughout.
Next up was a 1-0 away victory over Southampton. This was an important result with the latter also proving to be one of the leading sides in the Premier league this season. City then dominated Arsenal in the following performance with a 4-0 away victory in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup. Another 2-0 home victory followed for City in the Premier league, before they then produced a very impressive performance in beating Chelsea 3-1 away from home. The EFL Cup victory over United was next and this meant the side were now unbeaten in 12 since the Tottenham defeat with nine of them being victories. It now appears City are back near their best and rate the side to beat in the Premier league.
