Champions League
Key clashes of the round of 16

The Champions league has now reached the knock out stages with most of the leading protagonists still in the competition. Punters have been using the latest Betfair promo code 2019 throughout the tournament to support their favourites sides, as Manchester City remain the general favourites at 3/1. Can they go on and land their first Champions league title? The round of 16 looks to have a number of blockbuster clashes as excitement continues to build. Here we cover two of the key clashes of the round of 16.

Tottenham v Dortmund

One of the most difficult match ups to call as Tottenham face off against Dortmund. Both sides have been in very strong form this season, with Dortmund having only lost one league game all year. They go into the clash as the slight favourites at a general 8/11, with Tottenham at evens to progress through.

It is quite remarkable that Tottenham have reached this stage considering they only picked up a point from the opening three fixtures. However following two late wins they progressed through as runners up, behind tournament second favourites Barcelona. They now have injury troubles with Kane and Alli sidelined, so it is going to be a tough ask for them to beat Dortmund over the two legs. Dortmund finished as group winners ahead of Atletico Madrid on goal difference in Group A. At present Tottenham are a general 22/1 to win the competition and Dortmund 25/1.

Liverpool v Bayern Munich

Another fascinating clash between a German and English side as Liverpool face off against Bayern Munich. Liverpool were defeated finalists in the competition last season following their impressive run, so will he hopeful of doing the same this season. They are certainly a stronger side this time around, which has shown in their performances in the league as they remain the strong favourites to go on and lift the title. Could the Premier league run be more important to them and play against their chances in this competition?

Bayern Munich on the other hand started the season poorly, but have now really started to find their form, as they look to chase back Dortmund at the top of the league table. They are always a force in this competition, but seem to come up short when they face off against a real top side. As expected they finished as Group E winners in what was a very poor group in comparison to Liverpool’s. Facing off against both Napoli and PSG it was a tough task for the English side, but they progressed through as group runners up behind the attacking powerhouses in PSG. They will be expected to beat Bayern Munich over the two legs as they look to go one better than last season. Liverpool can be supported at 9/1 for the Champions league title and Bayern Munich are a general 12/1.
